Our Approach

Queer Visibility Collective (QueerVC) aims to provide financial support to local non-profits and important national causes as well as support queer creatives. The expansion of our work on a national scale will allow programming, visibility and space to be documented and created for the queers of today and tomorrow. If we don't create it, document it and support it, who will? This is the question and we hope to be a part of the answer.

Our Story

QueerVC was created and thought up by local NYC Queer activists and artists. Tired of not seeing space for self-identified women, transgender and gender non-conforming people of all races. QueerVC came out of our team's work with Dyke Bar Takeover. Several members who were involved in the NYC Dyke March decided that programming should be available beyond just months leading up to pride and so Dyke Bar Takeover was born. It started as just a need for access to community and grew to a realization that we were creating something in demand. We saw just how in demand the preservation of our herstory/hystory was when we attempted to throw our first Dyke Bar Walking Tour.  These steps just lead us to the realization that we need to do more than just create space in the moment but instead document space and be visible. In our second year of programming we are growing rapidly and working on obtaining our 501c3 status to make an even larger impact for queer visibility nationally.

Meet the Team

The Queer Visibility Collective has been a volunteer run organization from day one. Activists and artists have been involved in many stages and throughout the life of different programs. Many queers have joined our team and provided support for a specific project or initiative and others have been apart of the process since the beginning. Please see below four individuals who have taken on organizational and administrative roles to support the growth of our programming in different ways.
